Klay Thompson has been the biggest name in the free agent market besides Paul George after LeBron James withdrew his name. Following the loud whispers about his linkups with the LA Lakers, every hoop enthusiast knew deep down that the big man would settle in LA. However, his decision to move to the Dallas Mavericks at the last minute came as a surprise, but analyst Chris Broussard explained the 34-year-old’s mindset.
Recently on “First Things First” the NBA analyst clarified that Klay wants to win his fifth championship title and the Mavs seem to be the perfect fit for him. Despite the rising interest from the most successful Western team, the veteran swingman passed on. According to Broussard, the reason could be that his impact on the Lakers wouldn’t be highlighted because of LeBron’s superstar presence.
“The Lakers are a bigger fishbowl than the Warriors,” Broussard said. Justifying his view, he further added, “Klay was in Steph’s shadow, and [in LA] it’s LeBron’s team. If they won a title, it’d be about LeBron winning his 5th ring.”
Klay Thompson spent his 13-year NBA career with the Warriors and was an integral part of their glorious squad. However, the experience turned bitter during his last season with the franchise, leading to his exit.
Klay Thompson Reportedly Felt “Miserable” in Warriors
An alleged rumor has spread in NBA circles about Klay Thompson feeling “miserable” in the Blue and Yellow franchise. ESPN’s Kendra Andrews spilled the story that the 4-time champion’s close acquaintance confirmed.
His rift with the Warriors began last year when the relationship turned sour. Andrews stated Klay was “miserable with how negotiations with the team had gone on a new contract.” The host further added that compared to Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, Klay felt undervalued and unappreciated. He supposedly felt “miserable at his declining role on the team. And yes, miserable at the way his game and play had declined, as well.“

Finally, Klay would be out of the shadows of the star names and join the Mavs on a three-year contract of $50 million. For now, he would prefer avoiding all the drama that has been surrounding him for months.
