La La Anthony, widely recognized as a television personality and the former spouse of NBA celebrity Carmelo Anthony, recently spoke about her son, Kiyan Anthony, and the new Los Angeles Lakers rookie, Bronny James. She discussed how both of these young athletes are shaping their basketball careers.
La La admires Bronny’s journey, stating this when speaking to TMZ., “Bronny is an inspiration. He’s in the NBA right now. He’s crushing it and making history playing with his dad.” While recognizing Bronny’s success, she also pointed out Kiyan’s individuality, saying, “He’s doing his own thing.” This shows her appreciation for both athletes’ unique journeys.
Kiyan, born on March 7, 2007, in Los Angeles, is a senior at Long Island Lutheran High School in New York, where he plays as a shooting guard and forward. He is 6 feet 5 inches tall and has a unique playing style. He is known for his deadly pull-up jumper and good long-range accuracy.
Kiyan is ranked among the top shooting guards in the class of 2025 and is 30th on On3’s top 150 list. During the EYBL, he averaged 19.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. He has received offers from several Division I colleges, including Indiana, Michigan, and Syracuse, his father’s school.
La La understands how important Syracuse is, where Carmelo won a national championship in 2003, but she says, “I want him to be happy,” showing that Kiyan should choose what’s best for him.

As a McDonald’s All-American, the Lakers picked Bronny 55th overall in the 2024 NBA draft. He made history by playing with his father, LeBron James. After experiencing cardiac arrest in 2023, he showed great strength and returned to play less than five months later.
