The Dallas Mavericks staged an epic comeback against the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals series. After losing three straight games, Dallas won one game, giving hope to the fans. Dallas won game four against Boston with a score of 122-84. The Mavericks’ guard, Kyrie Irving, delivered a stellar performance, finishing with 21 points, six assists, and four rebounds, while Dallas’ star player, Luka Doncic, maintained his average and scored 29 points along with five assists and five rebounds in his 33 minutes of the game.
However, after the game, during a post-game interview, when asked about his thoughts on the Celtics, Irving reflected on how he didn’t want to be traded to Boston and didn’t have the right attitude.
“When I look back on it, getting traded here, this wasn’t one of my options. Like it wasn’t No. 1 on my list. So when the trade opportunity approached me, instead of going back and appreciating the Celtic’s history, I just came here with an open mind. Just kind of like, ‘Right, I’m just going to go with the flow into this.’ But I think that was the wrong approach… just being young.” Irving said.
Irving Spills Secrets on How Celtics Treat Players
Irving further opened up about playing for the Celtics. He gave some insight into the environment while playing on the Celtics roster. He mentioned that the Celtics expect players to seamlessly buy into the Celtics’ pride
“And I think that’s what I struggled with initially was figuring out how I’m going to be a great player here while winning championships while also leading a team and selflessly joining the Celtics organization or the cult that they have here. That’s what they expect you to do as a player. They expect you to seamlessly buy into the Celtics’ pride. Buy into everything, Celtics. And if you don’t, then you’ll be outed.” Irving added.
Irving was recently criticized by a Celtics legend, who mentioned that Irving was losing his superstar status due to his poor performance in the NBA playoffs.
