That didn’t take very long at all.
Just this week, it was reported that Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving had requested a trade. It was believed that the Nets would take their time to make the right deal, keeping Irving sidelined in the meantime—but it looks like they found what they were looking for.
According to NBA Insider Shams Charania, the Nets are trading Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a first-round pick and multiple second-rounders.
Irving has played in 40 games for the Nets this season, averaging 27.1 points, 5.3 assists, 5.1 blocks and 1.0 steals. The Mavericks will be his fourth NBA team, having previously spent time with the Cavs and Celtics before joining the Nets in 2019.
The Mavericks currently find themselves in sixth place in the Western Conference with a 28-26 record.
