Luka Doncic’s performance turned sharply from hero to villain for the Dallas Mavericks in Game 3 of the NBA Finals. After his eye-catching performance in Games 1 and 2, Doncic faced criticism for fouls that impacted his team’s chances in the latest matchup against the Boston Celtics.
Nevertheless, teammate Kyrie Irving stood firmly supporting Doncic despite the tough loss. During a post-match press conference, Irving boldly shared the team’s unity and backed Doncic amidst the scrutiny over his foul plays.
“We just let it breathe a little bit. Let the human emotions come out, and just give him a hug. That’s it, man. It’s easy to point the finger at just him and say, ‘You could be better.’ That’s easy to say; I think he knows that. It’s just reiterating that I got his back; we all have his back. It’s a tough game, a tough call,” Irving said.
Despite Luka Doncic’s impressive performance, in which he scored 27 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out six assists, his game was marred by foul trouble. However, he committed six fouls by the game’s end.

“He’s a better Carmelo Anthony… I don’t think he’s in great shape. I don’t think he’s easy to play with. I don’t think he’s committed on the defensive end,” Cowherd said.
