Everywhere you look online or on TV, there seems to be a new sports betting site trying to get fans to sign up so they can take chances to make some money.
It has led to fans becoming even worse than they already were, because many of them are taking to social media and blasting players for screwing up a parlay and blaming them for losing large amounts of money because a team won or lost by 3.5 or whatever the money line is set for a contest.
One player is now calling out sports gambling.
Mavs guard Kyrie Irving says that sports betting has taken the purity away from the game and calls media members bitter gentlemen and women. The Dallas Mavericks suffered a 113-106 loss against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night, with Kyrie Irving scoring 27 points.
After the game, Irving took to Twitch where he ranted about multiple topics. First, he addressed the downsides of betting.
“Gambling and sports betting has completely taken the purity and the fun away from the game at times…There’s a difference between being a diehard fan and supporting your team and loving your team vs somebody that’s betting on a parlay or somebody that wants to hit.”
“Why don’t you gamble on something that makes sense to you? I’m just saying you gambling, you going to win or lose. But that doesn’t mean sliding into people’s DMs or wishing bad on them or doing the extra shit that goes on, man. It blows my mind sometimes. You feel me?” Irving referred to his listeners.
