The Boston Celtics were keenly waiting for their opponents in the 2024 NBA Finals as the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves extended their Western Conference Finals battle to an extra game. Finally, the wait is over, as the Mavs swept the latter from the series after an action-filled game 5 win thanks to the Mavs duo, Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic.
To praise Irving for his massive contribution in the Mavericks colors, Grizzlies guard Ja Morant shared a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) with a blue heart showing the 32-year-old giving a post-game interview on Thursday. The caption of the post read, “Happy for this guy.”
The Dallas guards carried the team on their shoulders from the opening quarter to the final and finished with a 124-103 victory. Irving and Doncic stole the show with their exceptional shooting skills, 51.9% and 63.6% from the floor, 40% and 60% from the three-point range, and a joint game-high 36 points.
As Irving leads the Mavs to the Finals against his former team, there is a lot of drama waiting for him because of his infamous rivalry with the Celtics fans, but the 8-time All-Star has a positive reaction after the WCF win.
Kyrie Irving Reacts to WCF Win
With the smashing win over the Timberwolves in the WCF, Kyrie Irving, after seven years, made his way to the NBA Finals.
Rewinding the emotions, Kyrie said, “I don’t take this moment for granted at all. It took me 7 long years,” as he made his way to the back with the WCF trophy.

Kyrie last appeared in the NBA Finals in 2017 with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Despite his tandem with LeBron James, the Warriors took the championship with a 4-1 series win. Since then, Irving has struggled to find his way in the NBA, but finally, with the Mavs, he has found stability.
Irving even highlighted his peaceful stay in Dallas with his family, contributing to his court performance. He’ll be eager to finish his story against a familiar rival, the Celtics, in the Finals. With Luka Doncic by his side, the two-way showdown between Batman, Robin, Jaylen Brown, and Jayson Tatum will be a spectacle.
