Kristaps Porzingis was born in Liepaja, Latvia which is some 200 kilometers from the national capital, Riga. For those of you who don’t know, Riga is also called the Nation of Cats. Born and brought up in such an interesting cultural environment, the Boston Celtics star has a unique cat analogy for his team’s inconsistency.
Porzingis recently commented on Boston’s struggle with consistency this season. After a solid 122-107 win over the Dallas Mavericks, he noted that despite the victory, the Celtics haven’t quite matched last year’s level. However, the Latvian center drew an intriguing comparison, likening the current team to a “house cat” instead of the “lion” they were in the previous season.
“We were a lion last season, and some games this season, we’ve looked like a house cat. We want to have that spirit as a team this year, and it’s tough. Obviously, we can’t trick ourselves and make it like it’s playoffs every game. It’s tough, just human nature. But we know the group that we have, and we know that we’re going to bring it to the big games, but need to bring it consistently and keep building on good wins like tonight,” Porzingis said.
Really good quote from Kristaps Porzingis to reporters in Dallas on the Celtics' inconsistency:

Throughout the last couple of months, the Celtics have found themselves battling inconsistency. They are trailing with an 11-9 record over their past 20 games. Porzingis acknowledges that maintaining competitive intensity throughout the season is inherently challenging. While the team has shown glimpses of their potential, Porzingis thinks they need to step up.

I love a good revenge narrative, especially when the stats favor it. 🗡️🗡️🗡️
