When trade rumors first surfaced about the Los Angeles Lakers willing to give up so much in order to acquire New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis, most though the franchise had lost their minds for trying to do such a move and gut the entire team.
It turns out they weren’t the only ones who were thinking it was a good idea.
Kobe Bryant says the Los Angeles Lakers shouldn’t hesitate to give up their young core for AD.
Per the Spanish sports outlet AS.com (translated via reddit):
Do you think the Anthony Davis situation misled the franchise and the players?
Kobe Bryant: “I say no. [Kyle] Kuzma, Lonzo [Ball], [Brandon] Ingram… are the three of them better than Anthony Davis? No! Ciao! Bye! Anthony Davis is one of the best players in the world. Not currently, in history. What are we talking about? If you can trade for Anthony Davis, you do it. If not, alright. We have three players who are very young and work hard. They’re smart and they have to develop. But if you can trade for Anthony Davis… yes!”
If one of the greatest players in NBA history says he would be on board with the trade, then it is surely a no-brainer to bring a player with the type of skill Davis has to pair with LeBron James before father time catches up with him.

The deal, of course, never materialized and the Lakers, who once were thought to be somewhat of a threat in the Western Conference, fell completely off the map and will most certainly miss the playoffs.
