Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant was known for his high-scoring prowess and relentless hard work to reach greatness. Recently, an old incident involving the late Lakers legend and the Dallas Mavericks minority owner, Mark Cuban, has resurfaced on social media, and the fans are celebrating the Black Mamba.
Ahead of the Lakers’ road game against the Mavericks in February 2013, Mark Cuban, who acquired the franchise in 2000 and sold his majority stakes in 2023, made the mistake of triggering Kobe.
The NBA introduced an amnesty clause in 2011, allowing a franchise to remove a player from its roster. The player will be freed from the team’s salary cap but receive his salary as per the contract. Cuban gave unsolicited advice that the Lakers, who were struggling then, should amnesty Kobe Bryant. After overpowering the Mavs, Kobe Bryant tweeted, “Amnesty That.”

Cuban’s suggestion didn’t go well with Kobe, who dominated the game against the Mavericks. The five-time NBA champion erupted for 38 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists as the Lakers beat the Mavericks 103-99. As the incident resurfaced on social media, fans applauded Kobe Bryant’s dominating performance at the American Airlines Center.
