A massive chance for memorabilia fanatics is at hand with Kobe Bryant’s Achilles game jersey on auction. The game-worn jersey from the Lakers legends’ indomitable performance on April 13, 2013, is currently on auction at Goldin’s website with a maximum bid of $1,000,000 at the time of writing.
The jersey’s significance speaks for itself as it witnessed one of the gutsiest performances ever on hardboard. During the game against the Warriors, Bryant tore his achilles tendon in his left leg with 3 minutes left on the clock in the fourth quarter. Rather than getting subbed out of the game, Bryant returned to the court with one bad leg after a brief patching up to finish the job. Bryant finished the game with 34 points in a 118-116 win to keep the Lakers’ playoff push alive.
Despite his untimely passing, the Black Mamba is still intertwined with the history of the game and any item used by the 5-time NBA Champion is seen as a holy grail for any collector. Not only this jersey, but Kobe Bryant memorabilia have dominated the auction market this year.
