Knicks’ James Dolan Admits To Not Offering Kevin Durant Max Deal For A Stupid Reason

This is going to piss off Knicks fans even more.

This offseason had to be the most important offseason in franchise history as the New York Knicks had to land somebody in free agency to turn this team around.

As it would turn out, it would be the Nets to land Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

So, what happened? Did Durant not want to come there?

It was more like the franchise wasn’t ready to commit to Durant because of his injury in the NBA Finals.

The Knicks and owner Jim Dolan were not prepared to offer Kevin Durant a full max contract due to concerns over his recovery from the Achilles injury, league sources tell me and @wojespn. Knicks officials are in Los Angeles tonight, meeting with free agents such as Julius Randle.

A hobbled Kevin Durant is better than any player the Knicks have on their roster right now. His very presence on the roster, injured or not, would have most certainly lured other players there.
