The NBA and WNBA debuted a new 3-Point Contest during the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend that featured the Golden State Warriors Superstar Stephen Curry and New York Liberty Superstar Sabrina Ionescu going head to head.
Curry ultimately won the inaugural competition with 29 points, but Ionescu kept it close with 26 points. The contest was widely considered a success, and it is reported that it could return in a 2-vs-2 action next year.
Klay Thompson and Caitlin Clark’s 3-point shooting battle is imminent
It is being reported that the 4-time NBA Champion, Klay Thompson might also join the 3-point contest next year. Another superstar who is in talks to join the contest is the 22-year-old Iowa Hawkeyes point guard, Caitlin Clark.
Thompson, who was recently rumored to be traded to the 76ers, is one half of the shooting duo for the Golden State Warriors called “Splash Brothers” along with Stephen Curry, the leading three-point scorer of NBA.
It is possible that the news of Thompson and Clark joining the contest could be a 2-vs-2 competition, which has got fans even more excited for the matchup.

Stephen Curry, Sabrina Ionescu likely to face Thompson, Clark next year
The 10-time NBA All-Star Stephen Curry and 5-time NBA All-Star Klay Thompson would face the duo of Sabrina Ionescu and Caitlin Clark in 2025, as per The Athletic. It has been announced that the next year’s All-Star Weekend 2025 is going to be at the Chase Center in the Bay Area, San Francisco.

“At this point Stephen Curry versus Sabrina Ionescu is very likely for next year, I’m told with Caitlin Clark and potentially Klay Thompson to make it 2v2,” reported Shams Charania of The Athletic.
This initiative has been welcomed by most of the fans on the internet as it promotes gender equality and women empowerment. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are two of the deadliest three point shooters in the history of NBA, and Sabrina Ionescu and Caitlin Clark are two of the biggest names in WNBA right now.
