Klay Thompson has a great memory.
After the Warriors clinched their fourth NBA title in eight years with a 103-90 win over the Boston Celtics on Thursday night, Memphis Grizzlies big man Jaren Jackson Jr. found himself trending on social media.
Thompson paused his celebration to take some shots at the Memphis Grizzlies player over a tweet he sent back in March.
“Strength in numbers is alive and well,” Thompson told reporters after the win. “There was this one player on the Grizzlies who tweeted ‘Strength in numbers’ after they beat us in the regular season, and it pissed me off so much. I can’t wait to retweet that thing. Freakin’ bum. I had to watch that. I’m like, ‘This freakin’ clown.’
“Sorry, that memory just popped up. Gonna mock us? You ain’t ever been there before. We’ve been there before, we know what it takes. So to be here again, hold that.”
“Twitter fingers, can you believe it?” he said to the room with a chuckle. “I got a memory like an elephant. I don’t forget. And there were a lot of people kicking us when we were down.”

This was an emotional moment for Thompson. The last time he stepped on the floor in an NBA Finals came in 2019, when he suffered a torn ACL injury in his left knee during the Warriors’ loss to the Toronto Raptors.
Klay’s shot was off on Thursday night, but he still contributed 12 points in 41 minutes and was a major reason why the Warriors made it back to the top of the mountain this season.
