Among the blockbuster moves in the offseason, Klay Thompson’s move to the Dallas Mavericks was sensational. After spending his whole career with the Golden State Warriors and winning four NBA titles with Stephen Curry, he now teams up with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
However, Thompson’s initial performances for the Mavericks have not met the high expectations. Despite this rocky start, Thompson remains unfazed by the criticism directed at him. In an interview with Mark Medina of Sportskeeda, he shared his focus on team success rather than individual statistics.
“My personal goals are to be great and to help this team win. I don’t think about numbers or accolades or anything. I really don’t, especially 14 years in; I had enough of those,” Thompson said.
Thompson’s recent game against the Los Angeles Clippers raised eyebrows as he played for 21 minutes but ended up scoreless, contributing only one assist and three rebounds. This performance sparked a wave of criticism from fans.
Klay Thompson Embraces New Chapter With The Dallas Mavericks
Klay Thompson is entering a new phase of his career after a season that many consider one of the most lackluster in his time with the Golden State Warriors. While he may not be the same player he was during his prime, Thompson is optimistic about his future with the Mavericks.
“I’m really blessed to play this game at a high level. It doesn’t matter if it is in Dallas or in the Bay. I’m jumping in because I see the talent with this team, and there’s a chance to do something special,” Thompson said to Sportskeeda.
