When Bronny James suffered a sudden cardiac arrest during a USC practice, few believed he would recover, let alone make it to the NBA Draft. But Bronny defied the odds, entering the league and making history as part of the first active father-son duo in the NBA alongside his father, LeBron James.
Bronny’s journey has inspired many young players, including the sons of current and former NBA stars. One such admirer is Kiyan Anthony, the son of former NBA star Carmelo Anthony. In a recent interview with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, Kiyan expressed his admiration for Bronny’s accomplishment and shared his hopes for his own future in the NBA.
“It’s definitely really cool. It just shows that anybody could do it. I’m coming up next, and I could do it. Definitely happy for him and definitely congratulations to him,” Kiyan said.
Kiyan won’t have the chance to team up with his father in the league like Bronny. Yet he is determined to make his mark in the NBA. Kiyan hopes to enter the league to prove his athleticism. He aims to be the perfect successor to his father, Carmelo Anthony.
David Aldridge Criticizes Bronny James’ Early NBA Draft Decision
Bronny James played just one season of college basketball with the USC Trojans. He then declared for the NBA Draft and was selected as the Lakers’ No. 55 pick. This decision has sparked debate, with some, including NBA broadcaster David Aldridge, believing Bronny may have entered the draft too early.
During a recent appearance on OutKick’s “The Ricky Cobb Show,” Aldridge expressed his opinion that Bronny should have stayed in college for another year.

“I’ve talked to a lot of people, a lot of scouts, a lot of NBA college scouts. I think—this is David’s opinion; that doesn’t mean it’s right—that I would have liked to see Bronny go back to college this year and a place, a school, where he could have been the guy,” he said.
Bronny’s cardiac arrest sidelined him for a portion of his USC career. Despite this, he managed to participate in 25 games. In those games, he averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
