The fourth clash between the Philadelphia 76ers and NY Knicks didn’t follow Joel Embiid’s plan. Following their first playoff win in Game 3, the Sixers regained their confidence on the home court, but they did not see a 92-97 defeat coming their way. Embiid was significantly “disappointed” not only because of the loss but also by a gaggle of New York fans, and their loud cheers made him upset.
When Embiid was asked about the crowd in a postgame interview, the MVP center said, “I’m not calling them out, but it is disappointing. Obviously, you got a lot of Knicks fans, and they’re down the road.” He continued to add, “Yeah, it kind of pisses me off, especially because Philly is considered a sports town. They’ve always shown up, and I don’t think that should happen. Yeah, it’s not OK.”
The game was played at the Wells Fargo Center, but there were more away fans than home team supporters, and that didn’t go well with the 7-footer as they needed more support to even the 2-1 result. The fans of both franchises were at their best cheering for their respective teams and trying to pipe down the other. Every time the ball went to the Knicks’ Jalen Brunson, their fans chanted louder, which boosted the guard to drop a remarkable performance.

The Sixers had started off well in the opening quarter but eventually fell apart when Jalen Brunson unleashed his super heroics on the hardwood. The 6-foot-2 guard hit 34 shots from the field and successfully converted 18 of them, all thanks to the fans’ motivation. Although he didn’t have much luck from downtown, shooting 2-of-8 threes on target, his free throws were 81.8% (9/11) accurate.
The 27-year-old finished with a game-high 47 points, 4 rebounds, and 10 assists. The home team couldn’t stand a chance against his massive attacks and finally gave in. With a 3-1 lead, the Knicks will welcome the Philly side to the Madison Square Garden in Game 5, where Joel Embiid and Co. will have to face the rowdy New York fans on Tuesday.
