The semifinal series between the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves was full of action thrillers till the last game. Despite the reigning champions taking a 20-point lead early in the game, the T’Wolves didn’t give in. Instead, they restricted Denver’s only two contributing sources, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray.
After the series ended in the Timberwolves’ favor, the former NFL star turned analyst, Keyshawn Johnson, on “Undisputed” pointed out, “When you look at Denver’s role players, they did not step up. Two guys in double figures and both of them are the stars. Everybody else was like they forgot how to play basketball at home. You cannot win that way.”
The one thing that was exposed in Sunday’s game was the lack of team effort from the Nuggets’ side which led to their downfall. While Jokic and Murray gave their best to add 34 and 35 points respectively, none of the other team members contributed in double digits. They could only manage to chip in a total of 21 points.
That is the point where the Wolves excelled. They came back at the Nuggets with full force and finished the night with a 98-90 victory, the final nail in the coffin. Their exceptional performance compelled the Nuggets center to confess who the better side was in the series.
Nikola Jokic Credits “Better Team” Timberwolves
The Denver Nuggets dreamed of laying their hands on the Larry O’Brien Trophy for the second straight year, but the Minnesota Timberwolves acted as the obstacle in their playoff journey and crumbled their title-winning dream. However, their leader Nikola Jokic admitted that the Wolves were the “better team” in the series.
During the post-game presser, the Serbian said, “The better team won. In a best-of-seven-game series, I think whoever wins is the better team. Congratulations to them. We had chances, but they beat us.”

Jokic might not have gotten the team reward, but his individual performance was acknowledged by the NBA enthusiasts who voted him the 2024 MVP. Hence, it wasn’t a total loss for the Nuggets’ superhero.
