Houston Rockets shooting guard Kevin Porter Jr. has been arrested this Monday following an alleged assault on a WNBA player at a New York hotel.
As of the time of writing, the player was still in police custody, with ABC News reporting he was being kept at the NYPD’s 17th precinct in Midtown. The WNBA player in question, Kysre Gondrezick, is Porter’s girlfriend.
According to the report, things got heated between Kevin and Kyrse when he returned to the Millennium Hotel in Times Square where they were staying on Monday morning and she locked the door because she was upset at the time he came back to the room.
The Rockets guard is accused of beating the 26-year-old up once he was able to enter the room with the help of hotel security.
Details pertaining to Gondrezick’s injury were unknown at the time of writing, but Porter is believed to be facing domestic assault charges.
Porter was the 30th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, with the Milwaukee Bucks picking him in the first round before trading him to the Cleveland Cavaliers. He joined the Rockets in 2021.
