Outside intensities stating that Kevin Durant will leave the Golden State Warriors in free agency is one thing, but when it’s current and former teammates, that says something totally different.
Some of Durant’s former teammates think it’s going to happen, per ESPN sources. Several of his current teammates have told friends that they think it’s going to happen, sources said. Opposing agents believe it’s a fait accompli: “Just a matter of putting pen to paper,” is how one agent of another top free agent in the 2019 free agent class put it.”
While it might seem strange for KD to abandon the Warriors when he’s on the cusp of possibly winning his third-straight title and possibly another NBA Finals MVP, it is said that he might want to make his move now and put himself in legendary status by bringing the New York Knicks a chmapionship.
Earlier this month, Bleacher Report’s Ric Bucher said Durant going to the Knicks was pretty much a “done” deal. “From everything I’ve heard, it’s done,” he said. “Yes, he’s leaving… If he so much as gets [the Knicks] into the Conference Finals, he will be beloved there like he never has been at Golden State after 2 Championships.”
