Kevin Durant has never set high expectations for what fans or teams owe him. The Phoenix Suns star even suggested that the media would likely celebrate when he finally announces his retirement.
Recently, the Miami Heat honored Dwyane Wade’s illustrious Miami career with a statue of Wade and a wall highlighting Wade’s achievements. However, Durant is quite skeptical about ever receiving a statue similar to Dwyane Wade’s in the future.
During a recent appearance on “Up and Adams,” the Suns star shared that he doesn’t anticipate the kind of career tributes other NBA greats receive, hinting that his unique journey may mean no statue to immortalize his legacy.
“I highly highly doubt I get a statue of me put anywhere for playing basketball. It’s usually those guys that got the HOF career; with championships, you’ve been with one city for a long time. That’s not the case for me,” KD said.
Kevin Durant Talks NBA Focus in Netflix’s ‘Starting 5’ Season 2
Netflix has recently announced that it will produce a second season of its popular NBA docuseries, Starting 5. It will follow five NBA stars during the 2024-25 season. Among those featured will be Kevin Durant, who shared his thoughts on what fans can expect from him during his interview with Kay Adams this upcoming season.
“I’m going to keep it at basketball. Like they’re going to see how I operate in this space of the NBA more so than my personal life. You might get a couple of tidbits here and there, but for the most part, you’re going to see how I approach the game and the season,” Durant said.
