Long-lasting friendships among NBA players are common, but a deep bond between an NBA veteran and a rapper is rare. However, Kevin Durant and Canadian rapper Drake share such a unique friendship, maintaining their ride-or-die bond for years.
Recently, an NBA fan called out the Phoenix Suns star for his friendship with Drake. The social media user, going by the name of Alpha Kabiné, wrote on X, “You hang out with Drake. Nigga You Not Tough.”
Durant couldn’t sit idle after his friend’s name was dragged into criticism. He promptly clapped back at the fan’s comment, writing, “Shutup lame.”
Kevin Durant and Drake have been friends for over a decade. Their bond is so strong that Drake even has Durant’s jersey numbers tattooed on his arm.
Kevin Durant’s Comeback Shines, But Coach Steve Kerr Plans Limited Minutes
After missing all the tuneup games, Kevin Durant made a dazzling comeback in the Paris Olympics, participating in all of Team USA’s group stage games. The 35-year-old NBA veteran thrilled fans with his performance, but Coach Steve Kerr has decided not to include Durant in the starting lineup for their upcoming game due to his ongoing injury recovery.
“If Kevin had been here from Day 1, chances are he’d be starting. That was the plan coming in. But given that he missed all of our friends and came in late, we had kind of established a lineup that we liked,” Kerr said.

“When we brought him back, he was only going to play a certain amount of minutes against Serbia. And he played so well and he fit so well with that group, and it was devastating to see that group together,” he added.
Team USA’s next game is against Team Brazil on August 6, when both teams will play for securing their spot in the semifinal.
