Kendrick Perkins is doing what he always done, and that’s come to the defense of LeBron James.
The former NBA champion and James’ ex-teammate took to Twitter and called out the blatant double standard and expectations fans have for LeBron versus Michael Jordan after the latter received praise in The Last Dance for his brilliance in losing efforts.
“The expectations of ‘Bron [are] like nothing we’ve ever seen in NBA history. If Bron scores 63 and 49 in a series and gets swept, every sports network is talking about his inability to get it done, while MJ is getting praised and awarded player of the game in losses,” Perkins tweeted.
Perkins is referring to the 30-win Bulls team that played against one of the greatest Boston Celtics teams in NBA history. Jordan scored 49, 63, and 19 points in the 3-game sweep in a series that won by the Celtics by an average of 13 points a game.
LeBron dragging the 2007 Cavs to the NBA Finals is one of the best feats of his career, but it is perceived as a negative on his career, where as Jordan has gotten beaten in the first round several times, but it is hardly brought up.
That said, LeBron is held to a different standard, which was set by Jordan. Once the comparisons to the Great one began, all hands on deck.
