Kendrick Perkins will ride or die for LeBron James and he proves that with any argument that comes up about the greatest basketball players to ever grace an NBA court.
“The Last Dance” documentary has reignited debates about that topic, which led to the ESPN Countdown crew discussing Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.
Paul Pierce gave the nod to Kobe because he would want the ball in his hands with the game on the line, while Perkins claimed it was much easier to take down Bryant than James.
Perkins said, “All I know is it was a lot easier to win against Kobe Bryant than it was LeBron James. You can talk if you want to talk, but I was right there in the thick of things with you.
“I know he (Paul Pierce) had to really prepare for LeBron James and when we got to the Lakers it was smacked up six.”
Perkins and Pierce faced off as members of the Boston Celtics against Bryant’s Lakers in the 2008 NBA Finals, in which they basically manhandled them in six games.
The Lakers learned their lesson, however, and came back in 2010 to win in a grueling 7-game series.
