In the first half of the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Game 6 against the Denver Nuggets, the reigning champs, Anthony Edwards, led his team to a commanding lead. The Timberwolves had a game change in a pivotal elimination match, leading 31–14 at the end of the first quarter.
The Wolves looked strong from the opening tip but encountered offensive obstacles, missing four of their first five attempts. Denver, as a result, took a 9-2 lead in the opening three minutes.
But the Wolves quickly got back together during a timeout. They played strong defense, applying double teams on Nikola Jokic, making him give up the ball while his teammates could not get into a rhythm. Specifically, Jamal Murray had a difficult start, shooting 0 for five from the field.
“This is what I was talking about the other day: We get a lead and get comfortable. Keep your foot on the gas.” on the bench, Anthony Edwards could be heard chatting with his teammates.
The Timberwolves then discovered their shooting range, sparking a spurt of action missing from their previous three games. They started a 20-point scoring run and went on a run of up to 18 points, finishing the quarter with a dominating 17-point advantage. According to the NBA website, leading the offensive assault, Anthony Edwards scored 14 points with skill inside and outside the paint.

On the other hand, the Nuggets’ loss was their lowest-scoring game during the Michael Malone era and their lowest point total in a postseason game. Anthony Edwards showed glimmers of his regular self, most notably when he used his elbow to execute a turnaround jumper against Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
After falling behind 9–2 early on, Minnesota quickly mounted a stunning 27–2 run to catch up and take a commanding 24-point advantage at the half. The Nuggets could not corral rebounds and struggled with shooting accuracy, which allowed the Wolves to attack nonstop.
