On Saturday, Raptors fans were busy painting the city of Toronto red after their basketball team reached the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history. But it didn’t take long for someone to put a damper on the mood in The 6ix.
Shortly after the Raps’ Game 6 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, Kawhi Leonard’s sister too to Instagram to post a story congratulating her brother on his achievements. However, in the background there’s a dude that could be heard saying, “they know darn well he ain’t gonna be there next year.”
Everyone immediately assumed that the voice belonged to Kawhi’s uncle, Dennis Robertson, who’s said to have quite the influence over Kawhi’s basketball decisions. However, Leonard’s sister, Slayton, was quick to shoot down those rumors.
In an attempt to clean up this mess, Slayton explained to whole ordeal to a fellow Raptors fans and a regular contributor on @RaptorsRepublic. And he was kind enough to post her explanation on Twitter:
So there you have it, Raptors fans. You can breathe easy knowing that the dude calling Kawhi’s one-and-done in Toronto is nothing more than a Raptors hater.
