Kawhi Leonard may need to be nicknamed the silent assassin, because he can get things done quietly on and off the court.
After countless rumors, helicopter chases, multiple sources that claimed to know where he was going, Kawhi Leonard finally signed with the Los Angeles Clippers, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The NBA Finals MVP chose to sign a three-year deal worth $103 million with a player option after the second season, which means he has the flexibility to once again enter the 2021 free agency pool.
Not only did Kawhi sacrifice money, but he aligned his contract with his new teammate Paul George.
Kawhi has basically given himself an early exit strategy if the Clippers can’t things right while he’s in town, which gives him another opportunity to choose another franchise of his liking.
Who knows, by 2021, LeBron James might be retired and Leonard just might take his talents to the Lakers.
