They did exactly that and now they have a serious shot in getting him back.
As expected, Kawhi Leonard has declined the final-year player option on his contract and will become an unrestricted free agent, sources told Yahoo’s Chris Haynes, but he also added that the quiet superstar is seriously considering re-signing with the Toronto Raptors.
The Raptors need Kawhi. The Eastern Conference, after losing LeBron, definitely needs Kawhi.
