A blockbuster trade proposal has the Los Angeles Clippers swapping Paul George for another superstar.
Minnesota Timberwolves’ superstar Karl-Anthony Towns has been the subject of recent trade speculation, though he hasn’t outright requested a trade. Should a team come forward with the right offer, however, Towns just might find himself playing for another team soon
At NBA Analysis Network, James Piercey proposed a blockbuster trade that has the Timberwolves sending Towns and Kyle Anderson to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for All-Star Paul George plus a 2029 first-round pick:
“The Timberwolves chose to acquire Rudy Gobert to offset Towns’ limited interior defense.
Unfortunately, the fit between the two appeared questionable in 2022-23. In the modern NBA, running two bigs who can’t guard the perimeter can be difficult. Here, the Wolves are modernizing.
They could hardly find a better player to do that with than George. He’ll join Gobert and Jaden McDaniels to form one of the best defensive front courts in the NBA. Meanwhile, he’ll be an elite second offensive option behind Anthony Edwards.”
Last year, the Timberwolves sent four first-round picks to the Utah Jazz as part of a blockbuster trade in exchange for Rudy Gobert. But the T-Wolves performed well below expectations with their new dynamic duo, and the eventual NBA Champion Denver Nuggets soundly defeated them in the opening round.

The Clippers acquired George via trade and signed Kawhi Leonard in the summer of 2019 with the expectation of competing for multiple championships. The Clippers, however, have won just three total playoff series over the first four years of the George-Leonard era.
On paper, Piercey’s proposal makes good sense for both sides. The Clippers get a younger and slightly better scorer in George, while the Timberwolves land a two-way stalwart to pair with Anthony Edwards.
