The Minnesota Timberwolves narrowly avoided a clean sweep by defeating the Dallas Mavericks with a final score of 100-105 in Game 4. The star of the night was Karl-Anthony Towns, whose playoff performance brought him much criticism until this point. However, his outstanding play in this game won back the hearts of many, including basketball legends Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley.
On TNT’s post-game show, Shaq expressed his support for the Timberwolves, extending the importance of their victory in preventing a sweep by the Mavericks.
“They bought it tonight. They did not get swept… Give KAT a lot of credit,” Shaq said.
Barkley echoed Shaq’s words, mentioning KAT as the main hero of the night.
“He [KAT] saved the Timberwolves’ season tonight. So just give him his flowers; he deserves it,” Barkley said.
Towns had struggled offensively in the first three games of the series. Yet, he found his rhythm in Game 4. He finished the game with 25 points, shooting 9 of 13 from the field, and added five rebounds and four three-pointers.

Anthony Edwards Hails Karl-Anthony Towns for Exceptional Game 4 Performance
Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns led the charge as the Minnesota Timberwolves forced a Game 5 back in Minnesota against the Dallas Mavericks. Following the game, Edwards was quick to give his teammate full credit for the win.
“He played exceptionally well… he came through big time, he’s the reason we won tonight,” Edwards said.
Edwards himself had an outstanding game, finishing with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists.
The Timberwolves now face a daunting task, as no team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a series in NBA playoff history. However, with Towns and Edwards leading the way, the Timberwolves are eager to make history.
If Minnesota can win Game 5 and make it a 3-2 series, it will put significant pressure on Dallas to close out the series at home in Game 6.
