After spending his whole nine-season career with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Karl-Anthony Towns recently started a new career with the New York Knicks. The trade that brought Towns to New York through a clever loophole the Knicks found in the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). In the process, the Knicks sent Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo to the Timberwolves.
Towns recently appeared on the Roommates Show alongside Knicks teammates Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart. During the appearance, he shared a surprising detail about how he learned of the trade. The 28-year-old star revealed that he found out about his trade just four minutes before the news broke to the public.
“It was a hell of a Friday night, I guess. It just was a long day. I was in the facility too; I worked out; everything was cool; and then, at night, everything wasn’t cool. That’s exactly mostly how it went,” Towns said.
Throughout his nine seasons with the Knicks, Towns averaged 22.9 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game.
Karl-Anthony Towns Reveals Why He Respects Timberwolves President Tim Connelly
In his appearance on the Roommates Show, Karl-Anthony Towns voiced his frustration about not receiving earlier notice regarding the trade. Nonetheless, he maintained respect for Timberwolves president Tim Connelly for the way he communicated the news.
“I didn’t get called. Tim told me to my face that I was traded. I was at the house, he came to the crib. I respected it. Honestly, it’s a tough situation regardless of what would have happened, but the fact that it happened that way, I have to give him respect,” Towns said.

“It was me, three of my closest friends, and my pops. Shoutout to him; he came to a house by himself with five dudes there who could have just started spazzing out and crashed out. So I gotta give him respect,” he added.
KAT is entering his first season with the Knicks. The Knicks finished their preseason on a high note, posting a 4-1 record. With Towns as a key addition to the roster, the team is now looking to carry that momentum into the regular season.
