Kyrie Irving received a ton of criticism for the things that come out of his mouth, but mostly it comes from his part-time status last year and refusal to get vaccinated for COVID-19 so that he could be a full-time player.
While the Nets are hopeful that Irving can remain committed to basketball this season, the star point guard seems to regularly find himself in the middle of controversy.
In a recent Tweet, NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar went at Irving’s neck for his behavior.
Kareem may be pointing to Irving sharing a 2002 conspiracy theory clip from Alex Jones on Instagram earlier this summer where he talked about the new world order.
“There is a tyrannical organization calling itself the New World Order…by releasing diseases and viruses and plagues upon us, we then basically get shoved into their system.”
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had more to say on his Substack.

“Alex Jones is one of the most despicable human beings alive and to associate with him means you share his stench.
Kyrie Irving would be dismissed as a comical buffoon if it weren’t for his influence over young people who look up to athletes. When I look at some of the athletes who have used their status to actually improve society—Colin Kaepernick, LeBron James, Muhammad Ali, Bill Russel, Billie Jean King, Arthur Ashe, and more—it becomes clear how much Irving has tarnished the reputations of all athletes who strive to be seen as more than dumb jocks.”
Irving, 30, averaged 27.4 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.4 rebounds last season but played in only 29 regular-season games.
By deciding not to get vaccinated against COVID-19, Irving was ineligible to play in New York City much of the season because of a city vaccination mandate for employees.
Irving has averaged 27.1 points and 6 assists while shooting 49% from the field and 40.6% from 3 over the past three seasons.
