Jrue Holiday, Jayson Tatum, and Derrick White were in high spirits as they kicked off their Paris Olympics journey. Fresh off their first NBA title victory with the Boston Celtics, where they defeated the Dallas Mavericks 4-1, the trio entered the Olympics with confidence.
In Paris, Holiday, Tatum, and White once again tasted victory, securing gold for Team USA. However, despite the thrill of winning on the international stage, Holiday felt that the celebration of their NBA Championship with the Celtics was truly unmatched.
The 34-year-old was asked about his feelings about both feelings during a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Raising Cane location. The Celtics star was candid about his feelings.
“Winning in Paris was cool. obviously against France, so it was like us vs. the world,” he said.
“Winning here was amazing. I’m not sure anything tops that. Winning here in Boston. The crowd, the shot Payton hit. It was all just so overwhelming,” he added.

During the ceremony, Jrue Holiday shared his thoughts on the Boston Celtics’ prospects for the upcoming NBA season, particularly after their recent championship victory. The Celtics guard reflected on the challenges of winning back-to-back titles and the advantages the Celtics might have going into the new season.

“I think it’s going to help a lot. It’s always hard to win one, but then to win back-to-back is even harder,” Holiday said.
“So I think just kind of getting a head start on other teams, possibly where we have the continuity and the goal that we wanted for the end of the season—it ended up happening for us, but to be able to go into the next season locked in and doing the same thing (will help),” he added.
The Celtics’ NBA Championship win last season marked their first title since 2008. This victory also allowed the Celtics to surpass the Los Angeles Lakers for the most championships in NBA history.
