JR Smith has talked about this before, but people refuse to listen to him.
A nickname that the former Cleveland Cavaliers star assumed at one point in his NBA career was “Henny God,” based on his supposed love for the alcoholic drink Hennessy. Only problem here is that it was never true.
While playing Warzone in 2020, Smith admitted that he actually hates the beverage.
“I don’t even drink Henny bro. I don’t,” he said. “It’s not my s—, bro. I actually hate it. I don’t even like the way it tastes. I hate that s— for real.”
Unfortunately, it did not help his cause as his name continues to be synonoums with the drink. The former NBA swingman recently enrolled at North Carolina A&T State University where a student saw Smith on campus this week and posted a video to TikTok with the caption, “He probably off the henny right now.”

Instagram page House of Highlights reposted the video, which led to Smith going off in the comments.
“Ight that Henny s— really not funny tho can y’all try a different joke,” Smith wrote in a since-deleted comment. “Not really mad at the kid honestly they gone say whatever but [House of Highlights] the disrespect y’all post it’s truly enough.
“As a Black man in America y’all still can’t move on from the bulls— that people continue to put on your name!” continued Smith. “Not one positive post about going to school an trying to better myself! Y’all make it look so weak/corney to inspire my people to want to do better you consistently bring up an post bulls—.”
Smith is just tired of the Hennessy jokes and wants everybody to move on.
