Joel Embiid is likely ready to move on from the Philadelphia 76ers amid their stalling “process.”
The Sixers have been letting the star center down for several years now, most recently in the form of the James Harden saga. And he has hinted that he wants out.
While Embiid will be starting the season in a Philly jersey, another Eastern Conference team is reportedly weighing up a move. According to The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey, the New York Knicks are keen on trading for the center. They are willing to deal a package including three of the following players: Julius Randle, RJ Barrett, Evan Fournier, and Mitchell Robinson while they’re okay with handing the Sixers two or three first-round picks as well.
Embiid has stopped shy of requesting a trade, but that could change based on the way things go with Harden.
The Knicks and Embiid could have a mutual interest as FS1’s Chris Broussard claimed to have heard talk of the Cameroonian wanting to make the move to NY last week.
“There is scuttlebutt in some corners of the league that Embiid wants to go to New York,” Broussard said on ‘First Things First’. “Now he’s not going to come out and say it because he doesn’t want that backlash from fans in Philly. There is scuttlebutt that he has his eye on New York.”

Embiid is the reigning MVP and averaged 33.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per game last season. Pairing him with Jalen Brunson would make the Knicks an instant contender.
