The Philadelphia 76ers may reportedly end up trading both of their superstars in the not-so-distant future.
Earlier this summer, All-Star guard James Harden requested a trade from the 76ers, even choosing to opt into his $35.6 million player option instead of going to free agency with the hope that it would help complete a trade.
Now, Vince Goodwill of Yahoo Sports is reporting that reigning league MVP Joel Embiid could seek a trade out of Philly as well, stating that team president Daryl Morey may actually be keen on starting a rebuild.
Goodwill even heard from a source that two top Eastern Conference teams are worth monitoring in the Embiid trade sweepstakes:
“Morey is responsible for only the past few years, but in totality, many around the league believe Embiid will ask out sooner rather than later — and that a full rebuild is what Morey is covertly hoping for.
Everyone’s circling, waiting. The Knicks and Miami are keeping an eye on everything going on,” the source told Goodwill.”
Embiid hasn’t formally requested a trade out of Philadelphia, but he did make headlines at the Uninterrupted Film Festival last month when he said he wanted to win championships with the 76ers “or anywhere else.”

This led to speculation that Embiid could be open to a trade down the road. If Morey is personally keen on moving out the franchise star, then it’s likely only a matter of time until Embiid finds himself playing elsewhere.
