Joel Embiid seems to be of the belief that Philadelphia 76ers fans want him traded from the team.
The center is, of course, one of the best players in the NBA and was part of the MVP conversation both last season and the campaign before it. Many feel he should have definitely been MVP last term, but Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets has won consecutive awards for 2020/21 and 2021/22.
Joel Embiid Is Philadelphia’s Main Man
Embiid is undoubtedly the face of the Philly franchise and, with James Harden still around, the 76ers have a shot at a title this year. They’re currently fifth in the Eastern Conference at 15-12 and will face current champions, the Golden State Warriors on Friday.
The Sixers are 22/1 to go all the way this time around, though they haven’t made it past the second round of the playoffs since Harden’s arrival.
Philly fans are known for being very difficult to please. However, they will back a player to the hilt as long as they feel like he’s working hard and giving his all every night. Allen Iverson will forever be loved in Philadelphia but Ben Simmons has attracted their ire, with the support believing the Australian gave up on them. Simmons was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Harden last season.
Embiid Seems Convinced Philly Fans Want Him Gone
Given the above, Embiid is of the view that Sixers fans want him gone too. Speaking to Yahoo! Sports’ Jake Fischer this week, the 2022 scoring champion said he believes fans want the team to trade him.

“I don’t know. Sixers fans, they want to trade me,” he said. “I do believe that. They want to trade me.”
Embiid did not explain his reasons for thinking so, but he must be hearing it from somewhere.
The 76ers trading a player of his caliber would be quite shocking. And, at the moment, it’s highly unlikely. He is simply too valuable to let go right now, plus he is still approaching his peak years.
