There’s an unexpected betting favorite to land Philadelphia 76ers’ All-Star big man Joel Embiid in a trade.
On Monday, a video of Embiid’s teammate, James Harden, calling team president Daryl Morey “a liar” went viral. Harden’s comments come less than two months after he made it clear to the 76ers that he wanted to be traded.
The 76ers clearly have no choice but to eventually trade Harden. Could that prompt them to trade their franchise star and the reigning league MVP in Embiid as well? That remains to be seen, but the oddsmakers at Bookies.com have a surprising odds-on favorite to land Embiid if he ends up getting traded.
That would be the 76ers’ Atlantic Division rival New York Knicks, who have +600 odds of landing the future Hall of Famer in a possible trade. Philadelphia, of course, is still the favorite to have Embiid for 2024-25 at +400.
The Oklahoma City Thunder and Brooklyn Nets share the next best odds of trading for Harden at +750, followed by the Miami Heat +850 and the Utah Jazz at +950.

Embiid hasn’t outright requested a trade, and the 76ers surely won’t be keen on moving him unless he asks for it. Embiid has guided Philadelphia to the postseason in six consecutive years, and the odds of them getting a return of equal value are very slim.
