The Boston Celtics have advanced to the NBA finals after defeating the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals. They won four consecutive games in the seven-game series. The Celtics will face the Dallas Mavericks, who secured their spot in the finals by beating the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference finals. The Mavericks are led by head coach Jason Kidd, who played a key role in their success.
In a recent interview, Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla praised Kidd and explained how he has coached the Mavericks this season. He mentioned that Kidd is a great coach and explained that the Mavericks are the best team in late-game situations.
“He’s a great coach… they’re one of the teams we study a lot in late game situations and the concepts they do,” Mazzulla said when asked about Kidd.

Jason Kidd played 19 seasons in the NBA
Kidd, an NBA veteran and former Mavericks standout, retired in 2013 after playing for 19 seasons. He ranked second all-time in assists. As the starting point guard in 2011, he memorably led the Mavericks to their first NBA title. Meanwhile, Mazzulla began working for the Celtics in 2019. He was named interim head coach before the 2022-2023 season and officially became the head coach in February 2023. In his second season, he led the Celtics to a league-high 64 victories and the 2024 NBA Finals. With over 150 games coached, he now has the highest winning percentage of any coach in NBA history.
Recently, Kyrie Irving, Mavericks’ guard, praised Kidd during an interview with the Inside the NBA crew. He mentioned that Kidd motivates the players, and his lectures seem like therapy for the team.

Dallas will face the Celtics in game 1 of the NBA finals, which is scheduled for Friday, June 7th, at TD Garden.
