After the Cavs silenced the TD Garden in game 2, many fingers were raised toward the lackluster play of the Celtics. In game 3, it was the Boston Celtics’ turn to silence the critics and the ruckus Cleveland crowd.
Jrue Holiday was one of the pioneers of the game 3 win for the Cs and Joe Mazzulla pointed that out in the post-game press conference. “On both ends, I thought he played really well, really solid,” said Mazzulla. “When he’s that impactful for us, we are a different team,” added the Celtics HC to highlight Holiday’s importance.
Mazzulla wasn’t the only one singing the praises of the veteran, Jayson Tatum also chimed in lauding Holiday. “Jrue’s [Holiday] kinda like the glue that holds us together… he does everything that we need him to and sacrifices,” Tatum said to the press after the game.
Jrue Holiday massively struggled in game 2 with only 4 points on the board, but the point guard took charge on Saturday night to guide the Celtics to a win.
Jrue Holiday Masterclass Secures Celtics Win
After a disappointing game 2, there was a massive chip on the shoulder of the Celtics, especially of Jrue Holiday. The 2021 NBA Champion responded in supreme fashion by scoring 18 points with 7/10 shooting from the field.

Holiday also chipped in with 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 block. His 75% 3-pts shooting also helped the Celtics wrap up the game with a 106-93 win. The visitors took charge of the game from the early going thanks to 15 first-half points from the 2-time All-Star.
Apart from scoring, Holiday was a major component in guarding Donovan Mitchell. Though the Cavs ace recorded 33 points, Holiday’s presence kept that in check or things could’ve gone south for the Boston franchise as the Cavaliers made a late charge in the game.
The two teams will meet again on Monday at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse for game 4, where the Celtics will have a chance to take a 3-1 lead.
