The Los Angeles Lakers’ loss to the Houston Rockets has been a bitter pill to swallow. While they did have a horrible start, things quickly changed as the second half approached. Dominating proceedings, the Lakers came within handshaking distance of the Rockets’ score. Unfortunately, it all went haywire in the last seconds of the game when LeBron James and co. botched an inbound play. And this is where coach JJ Redick was not happy.
With just 5.4 seconds left on the clock, the ball came to LeBron James, who nailed a three-pointer. Unfortunately, James’ point was dismissed as the referee called out Anthony Davis for an offensive foul. The decision handed back the ball to Houston, who ultimately went on to win 119-115.
JJ Redick said that the offensive foul called on Anthony Davis, negating a LeBron James 3 in the waning seconds, was “egregious.”

The Lakers’ players did not receive the decision well. HC Redick called the foul “egregious.” Anthony Davis, too, mentioned that it was Holiday who grabbed his hands and not the other way around. Meanwhile, there were more controversies in the match. Right at the last seconds, LeBron James signaled for a timeout. But the referees could not spot the gesture!
LeBron James’ Timeout Call Overlooked By The Referee
With the score reading 118-115 in the closing seconds, LeBron James made a gesture. James wanted to take a timeout with the side-out play in the Rockets’ half. Unfortunately, the referees failed to notice the same, which resulted in the Lakers coming short of what could have been a historic victory.

However, after the game, King James was reluctant to blame the loss on the overlooked timeout attempt. He stated that the team needed to play well overall, which they failed to do. Thus, with luck getting a little tough, it remains to be seen how the Lakers will cope in the coming days.
