The stove on First Take got extremely hot during Tuesday’s episode. Kendrick Perkins and JJ Redick got into an epic back-and-forth live on set and it made for great television.
Both were on to discuss the possibility of Nikola Jokic’s third consecutive MVP trophy. Redick decided to push back on narratives made up by Perkins over the voting process.
Redick said Perkins was calling MVP voters racist, which made Perkins interrupt him and fire back. It led to a yelling match that did not involve Stephen A. Smith.
“What we’ve just witnessed is the problem with this show where we create narratives that do not exist in reality. The implication, what you are implying, that the white voters are that vote on NBA are racist. That they favor white people. You just said that. Yes, you did! Yes, you did … That’s exactly what you implied, Kendrick Perkins,” Redick unloaded.
Perkins shouted, “I stated the facts! I stated the facts, and you not about to sit up here like I’m [inaudible] … It’s the facts!”
Just like every other episode of First Take, these guys will likely make up off camera and none of this will affect their personal relationship going forward.
Stephen A. Smith will be back yelling by himself and all things will be fine in the world again.
