JJ Redick comes into the Lakers HC role with all the eyes on him. The scrutiny around him due to having next to no experience in coaching was already there and will only increase throughout the season. So going into next season, Redick is the most under-pressure Laker, claimed Joy Taylor.
On a recent episode of “Speak” on FS1, when Emmanuel Acho asked who is the most under pressure Laker, Joy Taylor was quick to answer with Redick’s name. “To me, the only answer is JJ Reddick. JJ’s new, JJ’s inexperienced. There’s already questions about why or who got him hired, all these things, which really don’t matter at all if you have some success. But they just fired Darvin Ham, who went to the Western Conference Finals and then went back to the playoffs. And before that, they fired Frank Vogel, who won a championship,” Taylor explained.
She further detailed the “dysfunctional” team at his disposal and the “tight” media coverage of the Lakers, which only adds to the challenges of being the franchise’s HC.
The former Magic guard was already under pressure coming into the job due to his ties with LeBron James. Despite stating that the 20-time NBA All-Star was not involved in the selection process, doubts remain over its authenticity. Another former NBA player already believes that was a lie, and that makes him a perfect fit for the Lakers.
JJ Redick Accused of Lying
According to Gilbert Arenas, JJ Redick is fitting well into the Lakers’ culture due to his lying. He accused the 40-year-old of misguiding the masses with his claims of not talking to LeBron about his HC job prior to selection.
“He can sit in the camera and lie to our face. I love it. That’s Laker Nation right there. We can look you dead in the eye and tell you some other sh*t… He’s already fitting in, and I’m loving it,” Arenas said during a recent episode of Gil’s Arena podcast. (After 5:50)

While most of the Western Conference teams have already upgraded their rosters, the Lakers are yet to strengthen the roster through trades or free agency. With almost an unchanged team in hand, one can only expect JJ’s job to get tougher if things don’t change quickly.
