Jimmy Butler is all set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. The Philadelphia 76ers traded for him, they have his bird rights, and would love to bring him back for many more seasons to come.
If it’s about the money, Butler had this to say:
“Technically I think, knock on wood, I will get a max contract anywhere I choose to go. So if you are talking a four-year, five-year, that is more than enough money anyway. I think I still have more than enough money now from my first deal.”
Butler seemed to find a home and a comfort level on the court with the Sixers throughout the season, and especially during the postseason run.
On Thursday, Butler took to Instagram and posted a picture of himself with the caption, “to philly. and my teammates. THANK YOU,” that seemed to indicate he might be on his way out of town.
Butler not returning to Philly would be a huge blow to the 76ers chances of contending in the Eastern Conference.
