Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler remains under contract through the 2025-26 season, which includes a $52 million player option. Recently, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Butler might be open to a trade to the Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, and Houston Rockets. In another post, Shams added the Phoenix Suns’ name as Butler’s potential suitor. The claim did not sit well with Butler’s agent, Bernie Lee.
Lee responded to the report by taking to his X account, where he accused Charania of spreading false information to stir up unnecessary controversy surrounding his client. While retweeting Charania’s post, Lee shared a series of three posts to address the situation.
“Alright listen. I gave you a pass yesterday because I was busy but if you don’t stop putting my name on your complete and utter made up bullshit because you know you normally arent worth my time to acknowledge,” Lee wrote in the caption of his first post.

In his second post, Lee continued to call out Charania for spreading “fabricated” rumors about Butler. By his third post, Lee added a touch of sarcasm, even referencing 90s journalist Peter Vecsey while demanding an apology.
I don’t know what I’m going to do because I’m a middle aged dad but just know it would indicate severe dislike. World… all this is fabricated. I have never and honestly it wouldn’t help me or the position I represent to do anything that’s been reported by said “journalist” https://t.co/1KOXza9SKg

“Shams this is your opportunity to say my bad “I let chat GPT write my tweets and it went old school Peter Vescey..” (Shams Peter was a writer in the 90’s) be a trend setter.. invent the new I was hacked. Carry on all. Thank you,” Lee conlcuded.

Jimmy Butler Reacts To Trade Rumors
Jimmy Butler has been at the center of trade rumors recently, but the Miami Heat star seems unfazed by the speculation. In an interview with the Miami Herald, Butler shared his candid thoughts on the topic.
“It’s fine with me. It doesn’t bother me one bit, and I do appreciate it. I appreciate going out there and hooping, and I appreciate being efficient, being effective, and helping my team win. I don’t ever take playing basketball for anybody for granted,” Butler said.
The 35-year-old is currently in his sixth season with the Heat. However, with his contract allowing him to become a free agent after the season, questions about his future loom large. If Miami chooses not to trade him, Butler will have the opportunity to decide his next move when the season concludes.
