A clip of Jimmy Butler casually sipping coffee while listening to a fan begging him to get the job done against the Boston Celtics has gone viral ahead of the NBA Finals.
The Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets will tip Game 1 of their championship-deciding clash off this Thursday following the former’s Game 7 defeat of the Boston Celtics on Monday night.
The Heat had raced out ahead of Boston in their Eastern Conference Finals affair last month, winning the first three games. However, the Celtics stormed back to tie things up at 3-3, setting up what could have been the most historic Game 7 in NBA history as no team has ever come back to win a series from 3-0 down.
While the Celtics stood to write their names in the history books, the Heat faced the embarrassment of becoming the first team to blow a 3-0 lead. No fan wants their team to own such a shameful record, which is why one of them took matters into his own hands and sent a voice note to Butler asking him to get the job done.
Well, Jimmy did complete the job, scoring 28 points on Monday night, with the Heat confidently booking flights to Denver before the game. He has since recorded a video of himself sipping coffee while listening to the VN and has the internet cracking up.
“I don’t usually do this. I don’t go in celebrities’ DMs and beg,” the fan is heard saying. “But dammit, Jimmy, finish this s–t, please. I mentally can’t handle a 3-0 comeback man. Please!”

Avoiding the biggest choke job in basketball history is probably more valuable than winning an NBA title to some. So it’s quite a relief to have seen the possibility erased.
Jimmy and the Heat will now look to make good their promise of a title to their fans.
