Jerry West seriously changed the course of NBA history.
During NBA on TNT — Shaq, Kenny Smith, and Charles Barkley were joined by Dwyane wade, Candace Parker and Jerry West to reflect on the life of Kobe Bryant after a terrible helicopter crash took his life, the life of his 13-year-old daughter and seven others.
During halftime of Celtics-Heat — Jerry West tearfully described how he talked Kobe, who was pissed at the Lakers at the time, out of trying to force a trade to the Clippers.
West told him he could not play for that organization or that owner. The owner was Donald Sterling at that time.
Luckily for us and Kobe, that never happened and he stayed with the Lakers for 20 years before retiring in 2016.
