Earlier this week, former Lakers guard Shannon Brown was reportedly arrested and charged with aggravated assault after witnesses say he fired a rifle at two people who entered his Georgia home under the mistaken belief that the property was for sale.
The 34-year-old was arrested at the scene on May 2nd and bonded out two days later. Brown told police he thought the two people were breaking into his home, while the couple claim they announced their presence at Brown’s front door and entered upon hearing a voice say ‘come in.’
For the past few days, the Nation as been in an uproar after footage surfaced of 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery being shot multiple times and killed by two White men who chased him because they thought he matched the description of a person who had been breaking into homes in the area. This also happened in Georgia.
That fact caused Jemele Hill to call out the hypocrisy of Brown being arrested on the spot as opposed to the two men who only got arrested this month after a public outcry.
“So Shannon Brown was immediately arrested. Funny how Stand Your Ground only applies to people who murder unarmed black men in cold blood.”
