Ben Simmons, the 2018 NBA Rookie of the Year, had a bright future when he joined the league. However, injuries cost him a lot of time, as he played just 15 games last season. Ahead of the 2024-25 season, the 28-year-old Australian versatile player trained with popular trainer Chris Brickley. This prompted Jeff Teague to claim that the veteran NBA skills coach has “ruined his reputation.”
After leaving the Philadelphia 76ers in 2022, seven-time All-Star Ben Simmons has never been the same. In two seasons at the Brooklyn Nets, the Australian star registered less than half his scoring average during his worst season at the Sixers.
In his recent appearance on the Club 520 Podcast, the 2021 NBA champion reacted to Ben Simmons working out with Brickley and said, “Chris Brickley just ruined his reputation with that take right there. I got some bad takes, but that might be the worst.”

Chris Brickley Claims Ben Simmons Is Back To His All-Star Form
Simmons played 15 games last season, starting 12 of them, and averaged 6.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.7 assists. Brickley shared the pictures of a training session with the Nets guard on Instagram and wrote, “Ben Simmons is back to playing All-Star talent-level basketball. Big season loading.” However, the NBA fans on social media trolled the skills coach for calling Simmons an All-Star talent.

The 38-year-old Brickley trained J.R. Smith and Carmelo Anthony as an intern with the New York Knicks. Prior to Simmons, the sports trainer worked out with popular NBA and WNBA stars, including LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Jimmy Butler, and Paige Bueckers.
