With some NBA franchises, it is much easier to figure out the top-5 players in the history of the team. Not so much for a team like the Lakers, who have had many.
Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss made an appearance on the “All the Smoke” podcast hosted by Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, and she was asked to list her top five most important players in franchise history.
Buss named all-time greats Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Kobe Bryant, and current star LeBron James.
“I like to say he’s like the closest thing to a superhero I’ve ever met,” Buss said of James. “In that he’s so powerful and strong and smart, but he does things for the good.”
“Of course, Magic,” Buss said via the Los Angeles Times. “Magic might be No. 1,” before saying, “No, Kareem. I don’t know, it’s so hard.”

Buss’ list sparked controversy on social media as many wondered how she could leave Shaq, Jerry West and Elgin Baylor off the list.
